New Gulden Advisory Board elections using the Blockchain
The Gulden Advisory Board elections are starting again. This week until Sunday February 16, 16:00:00 GMT candidates can register themselves on the blockchain. Voting will start soon after that.
Gulden was worldwide the first blockchain used for voting February last year.
Last years candidates registered a motivation speech of 350 characters to introduce themselves directly on the blockchain. Some candidates hadn’t enough space and used a link to a more elaborated motivation.
Ballots
Nine candidates were elected by the public and voting was also done on the blockchain eliminating completely the need of counting ballots by hand. This bulletproof system is a grandiose example on how voting should be organized and how blockchain can help.
The Advisory Board started with nine members but due to circumstances a few had to lay down their duties, consequently the number of members is now down to six.
It is a challenge for the GAB, since we think we need an uneven number of members because that works better when we need to vote on matters. Both Rijk and the GAB share the opinion that nine members is the ideal mix.
The GAB has decided to have another election round to fill up the 3 available seats in the Advisory Board. The current 6 members will stay in the GAB for the coming year, until April 1st 2021. In this coming year the GAB will determine further rules on how the rules for membership will be determined in the future.
How to participate
Below you can see an example of a transaction with registration from Nick Toet from last year. You can look it up in Dactual.com, the Gulden blockchain explorer.

In order to give you an insight into the situation, a separate website has been created where the candidacy and voting takes place.
On Bloctary.com you will find the necessary info.
Voting
Only people with a verified Nocks.com account are allowed to make their voice heard. This way the Gulden organization doesn’t have to raise a whole KYC department but makes clever use of the Nocks API with which the voter has to register. This is done to prevent fraudulent double voting. Only personal accounts can vote.
It has been decided that each voter must choose 3 candidates via bloctary.com/vote/. The votes are also locked in the blockchain so that an immediately available (intermediate) result is visible to everyone.
Results
The interim results will be presented in a user-friendly way.
